Discover everything Maynooth has to offer from the vibrant Canal side area to the acres of open space on your doorstep.
The perfect blend of old and new
The historic Town of Maynooth is wonderfully quaint but also modern and convenient, with an array of shops, restaurants, and pubs, a bustling University and active cultural and sporting life. The area is famed for its friendliness. Call into a local butchers, supermarket or delicatessen, unwind in one of the areas many charming cafés and bars.
The Royal Canal Greenway
The Royal Canal runs quite near to Bridge End and provides both a great place for residents to enjoy a waterside walk and a home for much of Maynooth’s wildlife. This newly extended Royal Canal Greeway provides 130km of level tow-path and runs through Maynooth. The Waterways Ireland amenity provides an opportunity cycle or walk between any of the main towns along the canal and return by train to where you started.
The canal attracts many birds, fish and butterflies. In particular keep your eyes peeled for the herons and if you are particularly lucky you might also spot an Otter. The banks of the canal are designed with wildlife in mind, providing a mix of wild flowers and opportunities for all manner of wildlife to create their homes on the canal.
